What Makes A Great Teammate?
Everyone loves being part of a successful team. However, there are different factors that contribute to a team either coming together and succeeding, or being unable to mesh and ultimately failing.
So ask yourself the question…
Are you the type of teammate that adds or detracts from the group’s greater chance of success?
Are you self-aware enough to realize one way or another?
Perhaps, these are biting and personally challenging questions, but in the field of sport, business, or life, the concept of team is omnipresent, and your ability to contribute positively to a team(s) is truly important.
Now let’s dive a littler deeper, and ask yourself the following questions…
Am I able to focus on my role and limit distractions?
Am I able to stay focused on the positive even during the more challenging times?
Am I able to take constructive criticism without defensive impulse?
Am I able to offer constructive criticism to others in a meaningful way?
Am I able to be both leader and follower when appropriate?
Am I able to self identify my strengths and weaknesses?
Do I support my teammates with encouragement when they need it most?
If you struggled with some of these questions that’s absolutely okay. Try and consider how you might be able to improve upon any of the areas that you’ve identified as challenges, and actively decide to make one easily executable positive change today.
Pretty simple. Pretty powerful. High fives all around.
