NEW RECORDS, MORE IN SIGHT
— By Andrew Russell
The reigning 400m 2016 Olympic champ has done it again, but this time in the 300m. South African legend Wayde Van Niekerk recently set the world record over the much less common 300, in a time of 30.81.
Van Niekerk is one of many examples of long-standing records that are being decimated as athletes become truly faster and stronger.
Another recent example is Kenyan distance runner Eliud Kipchoge who came just shy of breaking the unthinkable two hour barrier in the marathon. During the Nike sponsored #Breaking2 effort, Kipchoge opened eyes to what is possible in terms of men's marathon running.
