At the RBC FANFIT Challenge in Vancouver, BC you'll test your overall fitness across the following challenges:
Agility Shuttle: An explosive change of direction test. The 10 metre agility shuttle tests speed, body control and the ability to quickly change direction. Participants run one direction for 5 metres, the opposite direction for 10 metres and finish by running back through the laser gate start line to cover a total distance of 20 metres.
5 Minute Plank: Core strength and endurance are tested on the plank challenge. Holding a plank for a total of 5 minutes, you'll start with feet wider than shoulder width apart. After each passing minute you'll narrow your stance until your feet are together. During the last minute you'll alternate raising one foot in the air, switching every10 seconds.
Metronome Pushup: A true test of muscular endurance, you'll perform pushups to a 60 beats per minute metronome (1 second down, 1 second up). You'll perform up to 50 reps for a total duration of 1 minute, 40 seconds. You'll receive 2 points per repetition for performing the challenge on your toes, or 1 point per repetition if you perform the challenge on your knees.
At the RBC FANFIT Challenge in Vancouver, BC you'll have the opportunity to test yourself alongside the following athletes across all fitness challenges:
Simon Whitfield is a four-time Olympic triathlete, earning Gold in the Sydney Olympics, Silver in the Beijing Olympics, and was Flag Bearer at the London Olympic games.
Georgia Simmerling is an alpine, skicross skier, and track cyclist who has represented Canada ath the Olympic Games: 2016 (track cycling) - BRONZE (team pursuit); 2014 (freestyle skiing) – 14th(ski cross); 2010 (alpine skiing) – 27th (super-G), UCI World Championships: 2016 – SILVER (team pursuit), FIS World Championships: 2015 – 26th (ski cross); 2013 – 13th (ski cross)
Mercedes Nicoll is a veteran of the Canadian women’s halfpipe team who competed in her third Olympic Winter Games at Sochi 2014, finishing 25th. At Vancouver 2010 she posted the second-best Olympic result ever by a Canadian halfpipe snowboarder (male or female) when she finished sixth.FIS World Championships: 2013 – 14th (HP); 2011 – 8th (HP); 2009 – 20th (HP); 2007 - 11th (HP); 2005 – 10th (HP); 2003 – 19th (HP)
Will Dean is a rower who has represented Canada at the Olympic Games: 2016 - 8th (M4x); 2012 – 9th (M4-), Pan American Games: 2015 – GOLD (M4x), GOLD (M8+), FISA World Championships: 2015 – 11th (M4x); 2014 – 7th (M4x); 2013 – 14th (M4-); 2011 – 7th (M4-), FISA World Championships (U23): 2009 – 5th (M8+); 2008 – SILVER (M8+)
Ryan Cochrane is a competitive swimmer who has represented Canada at the Olympic Games: 2016 - 11th (400m freestyle), 6th (1500m freestyle); 2012 – SILVER (1500m freestyle), 9th (400m freestyle); 2008 – BRONZE (1500m freestyle), 9th (400m freestyle), FINA World Championships: 2015 - BRONZE (1500m freestyle), BRONZE (400m freestyle), 10th (800m freestyle); 2013 – SILVER (1500m freestyle), BRONZE (800m freestyle), 4th (400m freestyle); 2011 – SILVER (1500m freestyle), SILVER (800m freestyle), 5th (400m freestyle); 2009 – SILVER (1500m freestyle), BRONZE (800m freestyle), 7th (400m freestyle); 2007 – 15th (1500m freestyle), 8th (800m freestyle), 19th (400m freestyle).
Evan Dunfee is a competitive race walker whose notable international results include: Olympic Games: 2016 - 4th (50km race walk), 10th (20km race walk), Pan American Games: 2015 – GOLD (20km race walk), Commonwealth Games: 2010 – 6th (20km race walk), IAAF World Championships: 2015 – 12th (20km race walk), 12th (50km race walk); 2013 – 36th (50km race walk), IAAF World Race Walking Team Championships: 2016 – SILVER (team), 16th (20km race walk), IAAF World Cup: 2014 – 11th (20km race walk); 2012 – DNF (20km race walk); 2010 – DNF (20km race walk)
Andrew Todd is a competitive para-rower whose notable international results include a gold medal at the 2016 World Cup in LTAMix4+, a bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics in LTAMix4+ and a bronze at the 2015 World Rowing Championships in the LTAMix4+.
Scott Dickens is a competitive swimmer whose notable career highlights include: 2004 Athens Olympics - Breaststroke 100m, 19th; 2012 London Olympics - Medley Relay 4x100m, 8th; 2012 London Olympics Breaststroke,16th; 2012 London Olympics - Breaststroke 200m,16th.
Ben Rutledge is a two-time Olympian who was a member of the men’s eight that won gold at Beijing 2008. He had previously competed with the eight at Athens 2004. Rutledge was also a three-time world champion in the men’s eight (2002, 2003, 2007).
Scott Morgan is an elite level Canadian gymnast who represented Canada in 2016 Rio Olympic Games, the 2015 Pan American Games and the 2014 Commonwealth Games, winning two gold medals, a silver and a bronze.
